FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW DOES ONE GET INTO YOUR PROGRAM?

Our preference is that you are referred by a professional.  However, you can also call us yourself and we will lead you through the admission process.

CAN I LIVE AT HOME AND STILL ENTER YOUR PROGRAM?

No. This is a residential program. You live in residence while participating in program. 

WHAT ARE THE CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION?

Abstinence from mood altering substances seven days prior to entering residency. You must agree to abide by Our House rules and actively participate in program. As there is zero tolerance for the use of drugs and alcohol, random drug tests may be taken.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

We will assist you in applying for Employment Insurance & Industry (EII).

WHAT IF I DO NOT HAVE ANY MONEY BUT I REALLY NEED YOUR PROGRAM?

You may apply for Social Assistance or Employment Insurance if you qualify. Also, some employers will cover costs associated with a recovery program.

HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO STAY?

Length of stay is dependent on each individuals situation. Length of stay is typically 12 months.

WILL I BE ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE BUILDING?

Yes, you are free to come and go when you are not in program but you must be in before curfew which is 11:00 PM Sunday through Thursday and 2:00 a.m. on weekends. You will not be allowed an overnight pass during the first 14 days after admission.

WHAT DOES YOUR PROGRAM ENTAIL?

Program includes:

  • Morning and afternoon groups and activities
  • We follow the 12-Step Recovery Process which includes a Big Book study, Step study groups (must complete step 5), Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous and Gamblers Anonymous.
  • Time is scheduled for positive leisure and recreation.
  • Volunteering in the community.
  • Intro to Computer training
  • We offer a 5-week Life Skills course and a 50-hour Anger Management course.

WHO ARE THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE THERE?

Our program is for men 18 years and older. 

WILL THERE BE SOMEONE FOR ME TO TALK TO WHEN I AM THERE?

Yes. We have four qualified counselors on staff during the day and support staff on duty during evenings, who are always available to help and lend an ear. Also senior residents and alumni are available to talk to.
