Residents attend regularly scheduled one-to-one counseling sessions with professionally trained staff. All residents are encouraged to attend at least 2 outside meetings per week, the object of which is to join a home group, find a sponsor and set up a circle of sober friends and acquaintances for long term support in recovery.

All residents during their stay attend and complete a Life Management Skills course offered by Our House. This program runs 9:00am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday noon over a 5 week period. It covers 18 core lessons, some of which are: communication skills, describing feelings, assumptions, self-esteem, facing fears, giving and receiving feedback and problem solving techniques. This course is offered 4 times per year, is free of charge and open to both men and women from the community.

Our Understanding One's Anger course provides the opportunity for residents and non-residents to learn and practice skills that are useful in identifying the impact of anger and conflict in recovery. Exercises are implemented to increase self-awareness of ones' anger, hot points (hooks), recognition of signals and choosing alternative reactions to these. This course is 50 hours long and held three evenings per week over a period of 5 weeks. It is also free of charge and open to men and women from the community.
